Blender studying

So. The creation of each edit tool reference would be such a pain in the ass and so boring, that I decided to just put it here in text.

Transform tools are obvious (Translate\Rotate\Scale\Shrink+Flatten\Push+Pull). Just keep in mind that some of this tools won’t work with only single vertice selected (like Rotation, Push+Pull, etc).

Deform tools:
Edge slide makes the selected vertices slide (surprise!). But only till they meet other vertices. Like you can shrink one face of cylinder but only till the edge of next face. Selecting more then 2 vertices can produce an interesting results.
# Noise — can’t get it. Needs further looking into. It has something to do with the texture (at least it doesn’t work until you apply it) but nevertheless that gave me nothing.
# Smooth Vertex — smooths the angle of vertice… but I can’t get the logic of it.

Add tools:
This block of tools is very interesting. The results are very different, depending on the «Select» mode you choose — Vertex\Edge\Face.
E.g.:
Extrude Region — if Vertex Select is active, you can extrude from 1 to many Vertices. If Edge is active, you can make a new face from edge you selected — looks a lot like a sheet of paper that appeared from the edge. And Face selection give you the tool to make a new forms from the selected faces. Basically you create a child object that has a form of the face it was created from.

# Extrude Individual — seems like it’s doing the same as ExtrudeRegion, even tho tooltip gives slightly different info.
Subdivide — divides selected edge into two equal edges. Handy.
# Loop Cut and Slide — creates a weird new mesh in some positions… don’t see logic.
Duplicate — creates the very same copy of vertice\face\edge.
Spin — funny tool. It makes a circled extrusion AROUND THE CURSOR (!). Playing with settings gives you the ability to make just the copies of selection in the shape of circle (without combining them), choose the angle (360 — full circle, 180 — half of circle, etc).

Screw — different from spin. It gives the selected vertices a screwing direction up. It creates a circles one on top of another (changeable with settings)

Knife — seems like it allows you to «paint» vertices on your object.

to do

1) Revise the Blender Basics 03 — Modelling.
2) Practice a lot with Obj.Mode and EditMode + make shitloads of references (basic cylinder with each kind of edit tool)
3) Make fucking sketches for intro video.

Hello world… of 3D

Well, what we got here?
Me trying to master 3D software once again. Well, not once again probably, cause that single try with 3ds max like 6-7 years ago was merely a «try».
Yesterday I had this need of diving deep into something vast and unexplored. I decided — why not 3D? Hence, it will help with After Effects in future, it has tons of possibilities and millions of cool things.

I ended up downloading Blender, which is free 3D software, and messing with it all day long.
There was a time when I thought that AE UI was difficult. Haha. Now Blender made me think similar thoughts about itself. But it’s more about practice, rather then about bad UI design.

Oh whatever, to much typing. That’s what I’ve got as my first 3D model. FUCK YOU TEAPOT! I’M AGAINST THE SYSTEM! Ahahaha.
